Text conversations were used as an approach for investigating memory. Text conversations serve as an instrument in documenting and preserving a memory of exchanged information of an experience or event. It is a memory container, where the past can be remembered, considered, and re-imagined. Although text conversations present a visual truth, it does not represent the whole reality. The memory of its construction is always subject to reinterpretation and the decay of detailed information.
Text conversations between my mom and I, were visually deconstructed to demonstrate the process of memory decay. It translates detailed moments into a visual expression of retrieved memory. Each conversation is expressed experimentally, representing the decay of its details, and retention to hold its memory. The visual deconstruction of each conversation displays how memories are never whole, but a collection of thoughts pieced back together.
